ABOUT US

Our Mission

The Drone Operator Requirements Aero Initiative (DORAI) was created in 2022 with the objective of ensuring efficient and effective technology development for the unmanned aviation sector. We aim to support economically viable services by aligning on use case-based requirements.

What We Do

DORAI provides clear, publicly referenceable guidelines for future development. These statements give technology suppliers insights into operator needs for sustainable operations, ensuring drone design choices are viable, scalable, and modular.

Our Process

We inform drone Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and unmanned aviation-related technology providers about operator needs through DORAI statements. These statements are updated every six months and are based on intensive collaboration and alignment efforts among industry partners on a pan-European level.

DORAI Statements

August 2023

The first DORAI statement was released, providing initial guidelines for drone manufacturers. This version resulted from six months of intensive collaboration and covered both hardware and software requirements.

March 2024

The second DORAI statement was adopted, deepening the initial guidelines, and incorporating real-life experiences from use case analyses, flight tests, and collaborations with regulatory bodies.

Upcoming Publications

We invite all stakeholders in the drone industry to contribute their insights and ideas for our next publication, set for February 1, 2025. Your input is invaluable in ensuring our guidelines remain relevant and effective.
